Since Andrew Sarris鈥� formalization of the Auteur Theory, the world of film analysis has been largely defined by the ideas within. While many film scholars have argued against the theory, the language and concepts established in the theory have remained prevalent within not only scholarly spaces, but in critical and public spaces as well. This thesis aims to deconstruct this theory to establish the necessary guidelines that should be followed to create a replacement theory.
