Carolyn Redmore will present her Integral Honors Thesis Defense: “A Decrescendo in Dental Anxiety: How Music Helps to Reduce Stress and Anxiety in a Dental Setting.”

Many who attend dental appointments experience stress and anxiety. Previous research has suggested that playing music in a dental setting may have physiological and psychological benefits for patients during both routine appointments and invasive procedures. This presentation investigates the positive results of listening to music during dentist visits, along with aspects of music that help it to be more effective, including delivery methods and specific genres that are more beneficial than others.
