Graduating from high school and starting college is a big step! It comes with a lot of freedom, responsibility, and adjustment all at once. During your first year at Le Moyne, you鈥檒l be balancing classes, friendships, involvement, and new routines while learning what works best for you. “As students, it鈥檚 easy to get caught up in assignments, deadlines, and routines. But some of the best parts of college happen outside the classroom too through clubs, campus events, late-night conversations, and the people you meet along the way.”
DO: Make good use of your time.
Managing your time effectively can be a challenge. It can be difficult to balance upcoming assignments, deadlines, studying, spending time with friends, and participating in extracurricular activities. Even though you have more freedom, it is critical to plan your time wisely because you can easily fall behind in your studies and even create space for procrastination. Find out what works best for you in terms of time management to help ease your transition. Whether you use a physical or digital planner, breaking down the tasks you need to complete each day into manageable chunks will help you have a successful year!
DONT: Overschedule yourself.
As a college student, you will realize that your time is valuable. Try not to get so distracted by other things that you neglect your studies. And remember that overscheduling can be exhausting and difficult to keep up. No one is going to tell you what to do or how to schedule your time, so make the best choices you can.
